The International Medical University (IMU) is a fully private university that was established in 1992. It has a strong focus on medicine, health sciences, and complementary medicine programs. The university is well-known internationally and provides high-quality medical education for its students.
Located in Bukit Jalil, the IMU campus offers a range of programs including Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Nutrition. The campus provides a dynamic and interactive learning environment with various facilities such as collaborative study areas, a dental simulation lab, a nutrition and dietetics lab, and a Medical Museum. Additionally, clinical schools with similar facilities are available in Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Batu Pahat, and Kluang.
One of the key features of IMU is its extensive global network of partner institutions, which includes over 29 higher learning institutions from countries like Australia, New Zealand, the US, and the UK. This network allows IMU students to have educational and training opportunities abroad through credit transfer and twinning programs.
IMU also emphasizes the integration of education, research, and healthcare practice. Students have the opportunity to participate in research projects through the IMU Institute for Research, Development & Innovation (IRDI) during their degree. Additionally, partnerships with leading hospitals in Malaysia provide staff and students with real-life clinical experience.
In terms of rankings and reputation, IMU’s research laboratory received accreditation in 2014 and is officially recognized under the International Standard ISO/IEC. The university has also been rated 6-Stars in the latest SETARA rating. In 2017, IMU became the first and only private Malaysian medical university to receive self-accreditation status from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
