About RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC)

RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC), formerly known as Penang Medical College (PMC), was established in 1996. It is Malaysia’s first accredited private medical institution and was founded by two prestigious Irish universities, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and University College Dublin (UCD). RUMC offers a comprehensive range of medical programs at the pre-university, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. Graduates of RUMC receive a medical degree from the National University of Ireland (NUI), which is recognized by the Irish Medical Council (IMC) and the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). This accreditation allows RUMC graduates to practice medicine in various countries, including the USA, UK, Ireland, and Canada, as recognized by the ECFMG and FAIMER. Both RCSI and UCD have a strong international reputation for their medical education. UCD is ranked #171 in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2024, while RCSI and UCD are ranked #201-250 in the Times Higher World University Rankings 2023.
