The British Malaysian Institute (UniKL BMI) is a branch of Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), a private university founded in 2002 and owned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA). UniKL focuses on technical education and aims to equip its graduates with strong technical knowledge and entrepreneurial skills.
UniKL has 13 branch institutes located throughout Malaysia, each specializing in different areas. UniKL BMI is situated in Gombak, Selangor, with other branches strategically located in Selangor, Malacca, Kedah, and Johor.
UniKL BMI offers a wide range of programs at the pre-university, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels. These programs are the result of a smart partnership between the Malaysian and British governments and specialize in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering Technology, Telecommunication Technology, and Medical Electronics.
In terms of ranking and reputation, UniKL has received a 5-star rating in the latest SETARA rating. It is also ranked #1,001-1,200 in the world according to the QS World University Rankings 2024.
